Accelerated Reader (AR):

~A complete list of AR quizzes available at La Mesa: http://lobolib.weebly.com/accelerated-reader.html

~10 points required per quarter

~Will count as a quiz grade in English class (ex: 10/10 points = 100%, 9/10 points = 90%, etc.)

~Helpful Hint: use our daily SSR time (15 minutes) to work on AR!

~Quizzes can be taken throughout the quarter on the classroom student computer or on our class AR library trip (once per quarter)

My Access:

~What is it?

An AMAZING program that allows students to write, save, and revise their essays online (from ANY computer with internet access, including our classroom laptops). It also provides personalized feedback, revision suggestions, and scores for each student on every essay. It's like having a free writing tutor!

~How do I log in?

1. Go to www.myaccess.com (there's also a link on the La Mesa website) 2. USERNAME = student ID # 3. PASSWORD = your birthday with no "/", "-", or zeroes before single digit months or days (ex: May 9, 2000 = 592000)

~What are Mrs. Hoover's My Access procedures?

Students will have two days to work on their essays in class. The first day is for writing and the second day is for revising. Every essay must be submitted a minimum of five times, showing that improvements were made between the first and last draft. No essay is complete after only one submission. Essays can and should be worked on outside of class. A student's essay can be accessed at any time from any computer with internet access. Students without internet at home should plan ahead to work in the school library before school, during lunch, or at homework club. Mrs. Hoover will always make the essay deadline several days after the in-class work days to allow students to gain access to the internet.
