Teacher Appreciation: The week of May 5th we will having our annual Teacher/Staff appreciation week to honor the teachers and staff of Sierra Vista. There will be a planning meeting on Wednesday, March 26th in room 206 at 9:00 a.m. Please join the lead parent volunteers if you would like to help make this week special. Yearbook Applications: We have extended the deadline for all seventh grade students who wish to apply for Yearbook for the 2014-2015 school year. Please have your applications to Ms. Lennarz in room 615 Wednesday, April 30th. No late applications will be accepted.
Community Service Opportunity - You can earn two community service hours and a "Free" run pass from PE if you participate in the "Operation School Bell" 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, April 27th, at 8:00 am. The fee is $10 for Sierra Vista students and $20 for adults. You can pick up an entry form from Mrs. Hatfield, Mrs. Skoczylas or Ms. Stauch. Entry forms and fee are due by next Wed., April 23rd, to Mrs. Skoczylas in room 617. All the other junior high schools are participating, so let show everyone which school has the most spirit!
Do you have way too many books just piling up at your house? Well then why don't you donate some of these books to help Mr. Isquierdo in his project to build a library in his hometown of London, California? You can bring in gently used books of any topic to room 619, and if you bring in 10 or more books, you can receive community service hours from Mrs. Skoczylas in room 617. We will continue collecting books throughout the rest of the school year. Feel free to see Mr. Isquierdo in room 619 if you have any questions. Thank you!
Attention 8th graders: Magic Mountain permission slips are now available at the ASB office. Tickets for the 8th grade Magic Mountain trip go on sale April 14th. Cost for this event is $50 with no season pass and $20 with a season pass. Students must have ID at time of purchase and be credit & demerit eligible to attend. Last day to purchase your tickets is April 30th.
Do you want to use your artistic skills and show you have a green thumb?! Then you should participate in the Earth Day Competition! Every team will have until April 22nd, which is Earth Day, to make a paper recycling bin out of recyclable materials. Help your team teacher to decorate an ordinary box and turn into a functional paper recycling bin! All bins will be judged at the outdoor stage during brunch on Earth Day (4/22)! First place receives $25, second place wins $15, and third place gets $10 toward the team’s activity fund.

Box Tops: Although the Last collection for this year was Tuesday 2/25/14 Box Tops can still be turned in. These will be held for next years turn in. The collection boxes will be left in each of the team leaders classrooms until school is out. Remember to write your students name and team on the back of all your box tops to be entered in the drawings for prizes. Make a difference every time you go to the grocery store and earn money for your school!!!
